Bentley S2 Introduction
The Bentley S2 and Bentley S2 continental was launched from 1959 through 1962 and they were opulence automobiles. The Bentley S1 and Rolls Royce Silver Cloud I had been very much similar.
S2 was derived from the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II and replaces the straight-6 locomotive of S1 car with an aluminium V8 locomotive with the displacement of 6.2 L (6230 cc/380 in3). With this new locomotive S2 provides better performance then the older cars.
Most of the bodies of vehicles were manufactured by Bentley but some of the custom coachbuilders such as James Young, Hooper, Park Ward and H. J. Mulliner were commissioned to the body of vehicle.
The engine was an all aluminum 6230 cc V-8, placed under the hood having multiple SU carburetors that would be used until the 1998 Arnage by Bentley. To provide stopping power servo assisted drum brakes were used. The front suspension was independent with coil springs and rear suspension was semi elliptic springs.
The Bentley S2 was considered to be the best of the S-series. It was a four door touring automobile. These four door touring automobiles were well known for the large space for the four passengers and their luggage.
