Bentley R Type Introduction

Rolls Royce produced the second standard steel model called Bentley R Type to replace Mark VI after the World War II. The 4.5 inch big bore locomotive was able to give speed good over 100 MPH.

The front side of the R Type Saloon model was very similar to the Mark VI model but many of the R Type model has custom coachwork. The Continental example was produced especially for transcontinental Europe, with more coachbuilt by H. J. Mulliner.

This would be the best show of the famed Bentley Continental figure. All R Type models used an iron-block/aluminum-head straight-6 locomotive fed by similar SU carburetors. The first locomotive displaced 4.6 L (4566 cc/278 in3) with a 92.08 mm (3.6 in) tire and 114.3 mm (4.5 in) stroke.

The Continental had a big tire of 94.62 mm (3.7 in) for an overall shift of 4.9 L (4887 cc/298 in. A 4-speed manual infection was basic with a 4-speed automated elective.
